The Polish Book Institute

Wojtek Wawszczyk is a scriptwriter, cartoonist, author of such comics as the excellent Pan Żarówka (“Mr. LightBulb”) and the recently released Fungae, as well as a director and animation creator. He is also the first comic creator we have spoken to as part of our “Bedside table” series. Hence, we decided to take the opportunity to discuss mainly graphic literature.

One of the most interesting Polish graphic novels of recent years, Pan Żarówka (“Mr.Lightbulb”), was recently published in the United States by the legendary Seattle-based publishing house Fantagraphics. The translation by Antonia Lloyd-Jones was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme.

Wojtek Wawszczyk's Pan Żarówka (“Mr. Lightbulb”) graphic novel will be published in the United States by Fantagraphics Books. It will be the first Polish title in the catalogue of this famous American comic book publishing house. The book will be translated by Antonia Lloyd-Jones, a winner of the Transatlantyk Award.
