We promote Polish literature across the world. In recent years, almost 1,800 translations of Polish books have been published as part of the ©Poland Translation Program!



Greek translation of Olga Tokarczuk’s “Bieguni” with the support of the Book Institute

In Greece, the translation of Olga Tokarczuk's Bieguni (“Flights”) has recently been published. The book was translated by Alexandra Ioannidou. The publication was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.


Sinéad Morrissey announced European Poet of Freedom 2020

The Irish author Sinéad Morrissey was honoured with the Gdansk City Literary Award of the European Poet of Freedom 2020 for her volume On Balance translated by Magda Heydel. The jury recognised the way the poet navigates between different cultures, her impressive knowledge of the world, and her ability to speak languages of various poetic forms, in which both her fascination with folk imagination and modern science resounds. The award ceremony will take place on 31st August in Gdańsk, followed by an open meeting with the winners - the poet and the translator - the next day.


”Mała Zagłada” by Anna Janko in Hungarian with the support of the Book Institute

In Hungary, the translation of Mała zagłada (“A Little Annihilation”) by Anna Janko, translated by Klára Körtvélyessy, has just been published. The publication of the novel was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.


Writer of Polish origin nominated for the Booker Prize

Gabriel Krauze, a British author of Polish origin, has made it onto the list of nominations for this year's Booker Prize, the most important British literary award. The longlist was announced Monday night.

Small Book – Great Man

The social campaign "Small Book – Great Man" reminds us of the benefits of reading together in a family from the first months of a child's life. It was devised in connection with a nationwide campaign, as part of which young parents will receive unique Reading Layettes in maternity wards.

The largest readership promotion campaign in Poland, and probably in the world. In this year's edition, in 500 cities and towns, there could be found free e-book rentals, available for everyone. They were available at bus stops, libraries, and cultural institutions. The Book Institute is a strategic partner of the campaign.
