Łukasz Musiał, a literary scholar, essayist, and translator, talks about, among other things, an offensive of ideologicality and the misconstrued conception of moralising in the reflection on literature, the political character and autonomy of literature, the insatiability of life that leads to reading, his experience of translating Kafka and Walser, as well as the Great PWN Encyclopaedia, which shaped his way of looking at the world.


Spanish translation of Lem's "Cyberiada" supported by the Book Institute

A translation of Stanisław Lem's Cyberiada (“The Cyberiad”) has been published in Argentina. The translation by Bárbara Gill Żmichowska was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.


International Translation Seminar "Translators without Borders" 2021 - applications for this year's edition now open

The Jan Nowak-Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe (KEW) invites applications for the International Translation Seminar “Tłumacze bez Granic” ("Translators without Borders"), which will take place from 14 to 18 December 2021 in the Renaissance Castle on the Water in Wojnowice near Wrocław. 


Artiom Khlebnikov wins competition inspired by Lem's works

Artiom Khlebnikov is the Russian winner of the international Stanisław Lem competition for a science-fiction short story, the Polish ambassador to Moscow, Krzysztof Krajewski, told a press conference on Thursday.

The social campaign "Small Book – Great Man" reminds us of the benefits of reading together in a family from the first months of a child's life. It was devised in connection with a nationwide campaign, as part of which young parents will receive unique Reading Layettes in maternity wards.

The largest readership promotion campaign in Poland, and probably in the world. In this year's edition, in 500 cities and towns, there could be found free e-book rentals, available for everyone. They were available at bus stops, libraries, and cultural institutions. The Book Institute is a strategic partner of the campaign.
