”Co robią uczucia?” by Oziewicz and Zając with the support of the Book Institute
A translation of Tina Oziewicz's book Co robią uczucia? (“What Feelings Do When No One’s Looking”) with illustrations by Aleksandra Zając has been published in the United States. The publication was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme.
The book What Feelings Do When No One's Looking, as reads the title of the English translation of the book, was published by the prestigious New York-based publishing house Archipelago Books.
What Feelings Do When No One's Looking is a witty and heart-warming book explaining what goes on in the world of feelings (and beyond). Tina Oziewicz's concise poetic text, combined with Alexandra Zając's witty illustrations, is moving and imaginative.
The book's translator, Jennifer Croft, is an American writer, critic, and translator who translates from Polish, Ukrainian, and Spanish. In 2018, together with author Olga Tokarczuk, they were awarded the International Booker Prize for their translation of Bieguni (“Flights”). Two years later, she was awarded the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing in the non-fiction category for her book Homesick. In 2022, she was awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in Fiction, while the Book Institute, together with the Polish Cultural Institute in London and the Polish Cultural Institute in New York, awarded her the Found in Translation Award for her translation of Księgi Jakubowe (“The Books of Jacob”).
