The School of New Translators in Cracow

From 23rd to 31st October, the Book Institute in Cracow will host the second stage of the "School of New Translators" project aimed at translators of Polish literature into foreign languages. Four of the best translators selected during the first stage of the translation workshop held in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv will take part in it.

A ten-day stay of translators at the Translators’ Collegium of the Book Institute will be filled with translation exercises prepared by Anat Zajdman, an outstanding translator of Polish literature into Hebrew. The participants will be working on, among others, children's and popular literature, essays, and the book Rdza ("Rust") by Jakub Małecki. The School of New Translators means not only translation workshops, but also learning about Polish literature and culture. This is why we have invited literary critics, linguists, and experts on the literary market to conduct a series of lectures. Among the speakers, there will be such notables as Professor Grzegorz Leszczyński, Dr Marta Kwaśnicka, Dr Katarzyna Trzeciak, and Piotr Gociek.

The translators will also have a chance to take part in numerous cultural events.
