Polish illustrators at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair

This year's Bologna Children's Book Fair will mark the fifty-seventh annual exhibition of work by children's book illustrators from around the world. This year, two Polish artists, Gosia Herba and Marianna Oklejak, will exhibit their works at the event.

The international jury of Illustrators Exhibition 2023 has selected 80 illustrators out of 4,345 entries from 91 countries, whose work will be exhibited at this year's 60th International Children's Book Fair in Bologna. In addition to artists from Poland, the exhibition will feature works by illustrators from 27 countries around the world.

As every year, the works of the awarded illustrators will also be printed in the exhibition catalogue entitled 'Illustrators Annual'. It will be translated into several languages and distributed worldwide. The cover of the catalogue will feature the work of Suzy Lee, a South Korean illustrator and winner of the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen 2022 Award.

“The Bologna Children's Book Fair is deeply committed to building bridges between countries and cultures, pursuing the only, single, important objective of promoting the quality of children's illustration and literature, and providing space for dialogue and the exchange of experiences. We have been committed to these principles for the 60 years of our existence,” wrote the fair organisers when announcing the list of artists shortlisted for this year's exhibition.

The 60th International Children's Book Fair in Bologna will take place from 6-9 March 2023 and the Illustrators Annual 2023 catalogue will be available for sale from 6 March.
