Adaptation of Marcin Szczygielski's novel at the Montreal International Children's Film Festival

Czarny Młyn ("Black Mill") directed by Mariusz Palej will be screened at the Montreal International Children's Film Festival. The film's premiere in Poland is planned for April 2021, the Polish Film Institute (PISF) announced.

As explained on the PISF website, "it is an adventure film with sci-fi elements aimed at family audiences." Black Mill has already been awarded the Youth Jury Award of the 25th Schlingel International Children and Youth Film Festival in Germany, where it had its world premiere. Mariusz Palej's film also received the MARCINEK award for feature films at the 38th International Young Audience Film Festival "Ale Kino!”.

The film is based on Marcin Szczygielski's best-selling novel of the same title. The screenplay was written by Magdalena Nieć and Katarzyna Stachowicz-Gacek, and the filming conducted by Wojciech Węgrzyn.

The cast includes, among others: Marcin Dorociński, Magdalena Nieć, Krzysztof Kiersznowski, Janusz Chabior, Maria Ciunelis, Magdalena Różańska, Robert Talarczyk, and Grażyna Bułka. The roles of the young protagonists are played by Iwo Wiciński, Pola Galica-Galoch, Oliwia Ogorzelska, Borys Wiciński, and Mateusz Winek.

The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
