Polish literature

Maria Wilczek-Krupa

author of biographies, press and radio journalist, associated, among others, with "Dziennik Polski", "Kino", "RMF Classic". She graduated in music theory from the Academy of Music in Cracow.

In 2017, she received her PhD in musical arts for her dissertation with distinction "Aesthetics and functions of film music on the example of Wojciech Kilar's works", written under the direction of prof. dr. hab. Leszek Polony. She is a music theoretician and publicist, appointed teacher (third grade of the career system for Polish teachers), Ministry of National Education expert on school music textbooks. In 2014, she received a creative scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. She runs her own educational institutions, including a first-degree music school. Her interests mainly include film music and jazz, as well as 19th century piano music, to which she devoted her master's thesis. She is the author of scientific and journalistic articles, encyclopaedic entries, concert programmes, reportage, interviews, reviews, and album descriptions.

Since 2015, she has been cooperating with the Cracow Festival Office within the organisation of the Film Music Festival in Cracow. Her oeuvre includes two book biographies Kilar. Geniusz o dwóch twarzach (“Kilar. A Genius With Two Faces"), awarded with the title of the Cracow Book of the Month in March 2016) and Górecki. Geniusz i upór (“Górecki. Genius and Stubbornness").
