Polish literature
Bartosz Jastrzębski
(born 1976) – received his post-doctoral degree in Cultural Studies; Wroclaw University professor, writer, philosopher, ethicist, reporter, lecturer at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication of the University of Wroclaw.
He is interested in the borderland between philosophy, theology, anthropology, and literature, as well as cultural history and spiritual and religious exploration. In 2012, he received the Beata Pawlak Award for his book Krasnojarsk zero (“Krasnoyarsk Zero”, together with Jędrzej Morawiecki). In 2016, he published a volume of essays Ostatnie Królestwo. Szkice teologiczno polityczne (“The Last Kingdom. Theological and Political Sketches”), for which he was honoured with the Phoenix Catholic Award. In 2017, his book on the philosophy of religion entitled Vestigia Dei, nominated for the Józef Mackiewicz Award, was published. His next book, Światło Zachodu (“The Light of the West”), was also nominated for this award. In 2020, he published a volume of correspondence with Krzysztof Dorosz entitled Listy o wolności i posłuszeństwie (“Letters on Freedom and Obedience”), devoted to the contemporary crisis of Western culture and the disappearance of religious perception of the world in this cultural area. At present, he deals mainly with conservative philosophical and social thought and its relations with the theology and philosophy of religion.
