Aleksandra Woldańska-Płocińska

(born in 1985 in Kalisz) author and illustrator of children’s books. She studied graphic design at the University of Arts in Poznań. She currently works there as an assistant at the Laboratory of Packaging Design. She lives and works in Poznań.

Aleksandra Woldańska-Płocińska illustrates and designs posters and books, not only for children. Over twenty works with her illustrations have been published so far, including six books by Aleksandra: Pierwsze urodziny prosiaczka [Pigglet’s First Birthday] (2010), Drugie urodziny prosiaczka [Pigglet’s Second Birtday] (2012), Marchewka z groszkiem [Carrots with peas] (2011), Co dwie brody to nie jedna, kompendium wiedzy o zaroście [Two beards are better than one, a compendium of knowledge about facial hair] (2011), Rekordziści [Record-breakers] (2016), Prosiaczek i Pojazdy [Pigglet and Vehicles] (2016).

In 2010, the book illustrated by the author, Mrówka wychodzi za mąż (The Ant is Getting Married), was awarded the Most Beautiful Book of the Year 2009 in the competition organised by the Polish Society of Book Publishers. She is professionally associated with the publishing house Czerwony Konik (Little Red Horse). In her free time, she explores the subject of picture books for children and adults. She loves drawing food and piglets.
