Wisława Szymborska in Portuguese with the support of the Book Institute

In Portugal, a selection of Wisława Szymborska's poems was published. The work was translated by Teresa Fernandes Światkiewicz. The edition was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.

The collection Uma noite de insónia, meaning ‘sleepless night’, has been recently published by the Manufactura publishing house in Lisbon. It contains fourteen poems. They all revolve around animals and create a kind of bestiary. They are all accompanied by illustrations by Paula Arrais de Abreu.

With the support of the ©POLAND Translation Programme, Teresa Fernandes Światkiewicz has translated into Portuguese the novels by Paweł Huelle Mercedes-Benz and Ostatnia wieczerza (“The Last Supper”, 2008, Joao do Estoril), Pornografia (“Pornography”) by Witold Gombrowicz (2012, Alfragide), and Solaris by Stanisław Lem (2018, Lisbon), as well as Bieguni (“Flights”) by Olga Tokarczuk (2019, Lizbona).
