The Polish Book Institute

Antonia Lloyd-Jones and Jennifer Croft reached the final of the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation. The translators were nominated for translations of Żanna Słoniowska's novel Dom z witrażem (The House with the Stained-Glass Window) and Olga Tokarczuk Bieguni ("Flights"), respectively. Both translations were published thanks to the support of the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.

The Warwick Prize for Women in Translation has been awarded by the University of Warwick since last year. It honours the best translations by women. Last year, the translation of Wioletta Grzegorzewska's Guguły ("Swallowing Mercury") by Eliza Marciniak reached the grand finale, the prize, however, went to Yoko Tawada for the book Memoirs of a Polar Bear, which was translated into English by Susan Bernofsky.

The short list of books nominated for this year's edition of the award includes:

• Belladonna by Daša Drndić, translation from Croatian: Celia Hawkesworth (Maclehose Press, 2017)
• Flights by Olga Tokarczuk, translation from Polish: Jennifer Croft (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2017)
• Go Went Gone by Jenny Erpenbeck, translation from German: Susan Bernofsky (Portobello Books, 2017)
• River by Esther Kinsky, translation from German: Iain Galbraith (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2018)
• The House with the Stained-Glass Window by Żanna Słoniowska, translation from Polish: Antonia Lloyd-Jones (Maclehose Press, 2017)
• The White Book by Han Kang, translation from Korean: Deborah Smith (Portobello Books, 2017)

The winners will be announced on 13^th November. The translator and the author will receive £1,000 to share (if the prize is awarded to a book by a deceased writer, the whole amount will go to the translator).
