This year's edition of the Prague Book Festival was particularly promising. Poland was to be an honorary guest of the event. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organisers decided to cancel the event in May. However, they assure that they will do their best for the 26th International Book Fair and the "Svět knihy" Literary Festival to take place 8-11.10.2020.
The fair and festival in Prague is the most frequently visited place for readers’ meetings with authors as well as the largest publishing industry event in the Czech Republic and one of the most significant in Central Europe.
Polish literature is read and appreciated in the Czech Republic, as evidenced by the number of translations published every year in this country, comparable to the German or Spanish market.
A part of the Prague fair is Profesní fórum (Forum of Professionals), intended for professionals working in the book market.
If the event takes place in October, Poland will remain the guest of honour.
