After a break caused by the pandemic, Poland returns to the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
From Monday, the stand organised by the Book Institute showcases new titles from the "New Books from Poland 2021" catalogue as well as an overview of books for children. Visitors can discover Polish books translated into Arabic as well as a selection of works by the ©POLAND Translation Programme.
The Polish publishing house Manuscriptum is this year's independent exhibitor, presenting richly decorated facsimiles of literary relics and artistic books.
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is taking place for the 31st time, with this year's theme "Reading is seeing". The organisers estimate that the fair will attract around 150,000 visitors. Books will be presented by 1,130 exhibitors from 80 countries.
The event is accompanied by a vast programme of cultural and industry events. Germany is the guest of honour.
Also planned is the 'Focus Personality' programme, with events centred around the figure of a particular creator. This year, the organisers decided to honour Taha Hussein (1889-1973), the esteemed 20th century Egyptian writer, thinker, critic, and translator.
