The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) invites illustrators and their publishers to submit their works to the Ananas Competition, which has accompanied the fair for four years now.

The works participating in the competition are exhibited during the Beijing fair (26-30 August 2020) on a separate 400-metre area. The exhibition is accompanied by a rich programme of meetings devoted to the art of children's books. Last year, more than 1,000 entries were submitted from 20 countries. Of these, 60 series of illustrations were selected for the exhibition. The 2019 final of the competition included works by as many as five Polish artists: Aleksandra Artymowska, Jacek Ambrożewski, Zosia Frankowska, Joanna Concejo, and Dominika Czerniak-Chojnacka, who received the Grand Jury Prize.

The competition is open to entries from books never published before, as well as from books published in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

The main award in the competition (Ananas Grand Prix) is an invitation (fully paid by the organisers) to the Beijing fair in 2020 or alternatively 10 000 RMB. There are also three Grand Jury prizes worth 5000 RMB and five New Talent prizes worth 2000 RMB.
