Gustaw Herling-Grudziński commemorated in the Italian Dragonea

Wydawnictwo Literackie announced that on Friday 28th December, a plaque will be unveiled in the Red House in Dragonea (near Vietri sul Mare) to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Gustaw Herling-Grudziński. It is an expression of gratitude for the bravery of the outstanding writer for holy freedom.

The Vietri sul Mare and the coast of Amalfi is a special place. Gustaw Herling-Grudzinski took a liking to it as a summer residence, he spent over thirty years there, and it was here that he created one of his greatest works, Dziennik pisany nocą ("Journal Written at Night").

We would like to remind you that "in recognition of the word and deed of the great writer", last Friday, the Sejm adopted a resolution establishing the year 2019 as the Year of Gustaw Herling-Grudziński.
