On the fourth day of the Taipei International Book Exhibition TIBE, the Polish stand was again full of interesting events. These included a meeting with poet Marzanna Bogumiła Kielar, reporter Witold Szabłowski, and a painting workshop for children led by Piotr Socha.
The events organised by the Book Institute and the Polish Office in Taipei on the fourth day of the Taipei International Book Fair again attracted a lot of interest from visitors gathered at the fair. This time, most people were drawn to the Polish stand by the meeting with Witold Szabłowski, author of such reportage books as ' Zabójca z miasta moreli. Reportaże z Turcji (”The Assassin from Apricot City: Reportage from Turkey”), Tańczące niedźwiedzie (“Dancing Bears”), Jak nakarmić dyktatora (“How to Feed a Dictator”), and Rosja od kuchni. Jak zbudować imperium nożem, chochlą i widelcem (”What's Cooking in the Kremlin: From Rasputin to Putin, How Russia Built an Empire with a Knife and Fork”).
The programme for the fourth day included:
10:15 - A painting workshop for children aged 6-12 led by Piotr Socha
13:00 – A meeting with Rafal Kosik.
14:15 - Panel discussion on waste with Stanislaw Lubienski and Hung-Chi Liao.
16:45 - A meeting with Marzanna Bogumiła Kielar.
18:00 – A meeting with Witold Szabłowski.
19:30 - An evening featuring reading literature aloud with Marzanna Bogumiła Kielar.
The Taipei International Book Exhibition began on 31 January and will last until 5 February. A rich programme prepared by the Book Institute and the Polish Office in Taipei awaits visitors to the fair each day.
The International Book Exhibition in Taipei is part of the strategy pursued by the Book Institute, the aim of which is to have a sustained, distinct presence of Polish literature in places where up to now Polish books have not been available or have been insufficiently available.
The project was co-financed by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the task 'Poland as Guest of Honour at the TIBE 2023 International Book Exhibition in Taipei'.
