The Book Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute in London, and the Polish Cultural Institute in New York are calling for nominations until 5 February 2024 for this year's Found in Translation Award, granted to the author of the best translation of Polish literature into English in the past calendar year. Translations that have been published in book form in 2023 are eligible for submission.
Candidates can be submitted to the Book Institute (to the email address biuro@instytutksiazki.pl) by individuals and organisations from at home and abroad. The application should include the reasons for the selection of the candidate, the candidate's address, and the applicant's address. Nominators may also submit a book translated by the nominee (preferably in electronic form) with their application.
The Found in Translation Award includes a one-month residency in Kraków, an honorarium of PLN2,000, travel to and from Kraków funded by the Polish Book Institute, as well as a cash prize of PLN16,000 funded in equal parts by the Polish Book Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute in London, and the Polish Cultural Institute in New York.
