The Polish Book Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute London, the Polish Cultural Institute New York, and the Polish Institute in New Delhi are now accepting nominations for this year’s edition of the FOUND IN TRANSLATION award, honoring the best translation of Polish literature into English in 2016.
The winner will be declared and the award presented at the London Book Fair in March 2017, at which Poland will be featured as the Market Focus Country. The Market Focus Poland programme will be a series of cultural and industry events presenting leading authors, popular genres, interesting subject matter, literary trends and interesting features of our book market—in a word, all that’s best in contemporary Polish literature.
The Found in Translation Award includes a three-month residency in Kraków, an honorarium of 2,000 złotys a month, travel to and from Kraków funded by the Polish Book Institute, and a cash prize of 16,000 złotys funded in equal parts by the Polish Book Institute, the PCI London, the PCI New York and the PI New Delhi.
Reminder:
Translations published in book form in 2016 qualify for nomination. Individuals or organizations in Poland and abroad may nominate candidates to the Book Institute (by writing to biuro@instytutksiazki.pl). The nomination should include a justification for choosing the candidate, the candidate’s address, and the address of the nominator.
