Applications for the Albrecht Lempp Scholarship for 2022 open until the end of February
The Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Book Institute, and the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin are still accepting applications for the Albrecht Lempp Scholarship for 2022 until 28th February.
The aim of the scholarship is to cultivate the art of translation and writing in the spirit of literary and translation standards close to Albrecht Lempp as well as to commemorate his contribution to the German-Polish literary exchange.
The Albrecht Lempp Scholarship is intended for writers from Poland and Germany as well as for German translators of Polish literature and Polish translators of German-language literature.
The scholarship programme consists of two one-month stays in a neighbouring country every year:
1) One month in the guest house of the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin for a Polish writer or translator. The sponsors cover travel and accommodation costs and provide a scholarship of €1,200.
2) One month in Krakow, in the rooms of the Translators’ Collegium of the Book Institute, for a German writer or translator. The sponsors cover travel and accommodation costs and provide a scholarship of €1,200.
Deadlines and application rules
Writers and translators submit electronic submissions by email. In Polish or German, they present their professional achievements to date and their work plan.
The next deadline for applications is 28 February 2022. The organisers will inform about the results by the end of March 2022. The exact date of arrival of the grantees will be arranged directly with the organisers.
The selection of scholarship holders will be made by a jury. The honorary member of the jury is Elżbieta Lempp. The Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Book Institute, and the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin delegate one jury member each.
