From 31 January to 5 February, the Taipei International Book Exhibition takes place, during which Poland is the Guest of Honour. Meanwhile, from 17 January to 19 March, the Library ‘Not Just Library’ located in the Taiwan Design Museum is hosting an exhibition entitled 'The Most Beautiful Polish Books', featuring books awarded in the 'Most Beautiful Polish Books' competition organised by the Polskie Towarzystwo Wydawców Książek (Polish Association of Book Publishers).
The exhibition was organised by the Taiwan Design Research Institute in cooperation with the Polish Association of Book Publishers and with support from the Polish Office in Taipei. Its curators are: Sasson Kung, an expert in European graphic design, and Jessie Chen, publisher of graphic design magazine ‘Circle’.
The exhibition presents the books awarded and commended in the "Most Beautiful Polish Books 2021" competition - the 62nd edition of the competition organised by the Polish Association of Book Publishers since 1957.
In addition, the exhibition includes a section presenting the results of the competition 'The Most Beautiful Book Covers by Stanisław Lem', organised by the Polish Association of Book Publishers and the University Library of Warsaw on the occasion of the writer's 100th birthday. The museum will also host a series of events, including a workshop led by illustrator Piotr Socha (5 February), an online meeting with competition commissioner and designer Magdalena Frankowska (5 February) and a lecture by writer and translator Wei-Yun Lin (18 March), who will introduce the public to Polish book design from different perspectives.
