(1882-1971) – poet, prose writer, translator, editor.

Her stories for children were published even before the First World War. For many years she edited a raft of children’s magazines, including: Płomyczek, Słonko and Poranek. During the Second World War she was an educational and cultural activist in the underground.  As a writer she loved Polish folklore and wrote her own poetry and fairy tales based on it. She drew on Polish parables, songs and tales. Her books have delighted new generations, entered the canon of school readers and have been translated into many languages.
